Hardware & Fasteners Heat Treatment – Precision Hardening & Tempering for Bolts, Nuts & Washers
Fasteners are the most basic and widely used connecting components in mechanical equipment. Although products such as bolts, nuts, washers, and screws have simple structures, they demand extremely high mechanical properties and reliability. Heat treatment is the core process that enables fasteners to achieve target strength grades and service life. Rexin China factory provides complete heat treatment lines for the fastener industry with wholesale supply and custom manufacturing.
Basic Principles of Fastener Heat Treatment
Fastener heat treatment uses precise control of heating temperature, holding time, and cooling rate to alter the internal microstructure of steel, thereby achieving target hardness, toughness, and tensile strength.
Typical Process Flow:
1. Carburizing Stage (for low-carbon steel fasteners) – Carbon atoms are introduced into the surface layer of low-carbon steel bolts or nuts, forming a high-carbon surface layer in preparation for subsequent quenching.
2. Quenching Stage – Fasteners are heated above the austenitizing temperature and then rapidly cooled (oil or water quench), transforming the surface layer into high-hardness martensite.
3. Tempering Stage – Quenched fasteners are reheated at a lower temperature to eliminate quenching stress and balance hardness with toughness.
4. Washing & Drying – Residual quenching oil and impurities are removed from the fastener surface to ensure quality for subsequent processes.
Different strength grades require significantly different heat treatment processes. Parameters must be precisely adjusted according to the target grade.

Core Equipment for Fastener Heat Treatment
The fastener industry demands high-volume, continuous production, making mesh belt continuous heat treatment lines the mainstream choice:
| Equipment | Applicable Products | Temperature Range | Main Features |
| Mesh Belt Quenching Furnace | Bolts, nuts, washers, pins | 800–950°C | Continuous operation, uniform temperature |
| Mesh Belt Carburizing Furnace | Low-carbon steel fasteners | 850–950°C | Automatic carbon potential control |
| Mesh Belt Tempering Furnace | Quenched fasteners | 150–650°C | Multi-zone control, uniform hardness |
| Degreasing Washer | All fasteners | 50–80°C | Removes quenching oil residue |
Complete Fastener Heat Treatment Line:
Feeding System → Carburizing Furnace → Oil Quench → Washing → Tempering Furnace → Cooling → Discharge
