Key Advantages
Working Principle of Vacuum Tempering
After vacuum quenching, metal parts may require tempering to reduce residual stress and achieve the required balance of hardness and toughness. The workpieces are loaded into the furnace chamber, where the chamber is evacuated before controlled heating begins.
During the tempering cycle, the workpieces are heated to the required process temperature and held for a specified time according to the material and heat treatment process. The vacuum environment helps reduce oxidation and surface discoloration during heating.
After the holding stage, the workpieces are cooled according to the selected process before unloading. Temperature, holding time, vacuum conditions and cooling requirements can be configured according to the workpiece and production process.
Heating & Vacuum System
The horizontal vacuum tempering furnace is designed with a sealed vacuum chamber and controlled heating system to provide a clean and stable environment for tempering after quenching. Uniform heating throughout the effective working zone helps achieve consistent heat treatment results across the furnace load.
Depending on the workpiece material and tempering process, the furnace can be configured for different operating temperatures and vacuum levels. Low-temperature tempering configurations may also use gas circulation or convection-assisted heating to improve heating efficiency and temperature uniformity.
Typical reference configuration:
• Operating temperature: approximately 200–700°C for conventional tempering applications, with higher-temperature configurations available according to process requirements
• Temperature uniformity: typically around ±3–5°C, depending on furnace size and operating conditions
• Vacuum system: configured according to the required working vacuum and process
• Cooling: vacuum or protective-gas cooling configuration available according to process requirements
• Heating zone and loading capacity: customized according to workpiece dimensions and production capacity
Actual technical specifications are determined according to the material, workpiece size, tempering temperature, loading capacity and required heat treatment process.
The furnace chamber and internal structure can be designed according to the required working temperature, effective heating zone, loading capacity and vacuum heat treatment process.

Cooling & Control System
After the tempering and holding cycle is completed, the workpieces are cooled under controlled conditions according to the required heat treatment process. Depending on the application, the furnace can be configured with vacuum cooling or protective-gas cooling to help maintain a clean workpiece surface and stable processing results.
The control system provides automatic management of heating, temperature holding, vacuum and cooling stages. Process parameters such as temperature, holding time and heating program can be set according to different materials and heat treatment requirements.
Typical control and cooling features:
• Programmable automatic heat treatment cycles
• Multi-stage heating and temperature holding control
• Temperature monitoring and process control
• Vacuum monitoring during the treatment cycle
• Configurable cooling method according to process requirements
• Alarm and safety protection functions
• Process parameters can be adjusted for different workpieces and materials
PLC, temperature controller, HMI and other electrical components can be configured according to project requirements.
