What is Powder Metallurgy Sintering Furnace?

Powder metallurgy sintering furnace is the core continuous heat treatment equipment for powder metallurgy production line, specially designed for high-temperature sintering of compacted metal powder green parts.

The furnace fills sealed chamber with reducing protective atmosphere (nitrogen-hydrogen mixture, ammonia decomposition gas, pure hydrogen) to heat green compacts at constant high temperature. Metal powder particles diffuse and bond together to densify loose green bodies, improving finished parts’ tensile strength, hardness and dimensional stability.

The whole sintering process avoids air oxidation completely, which makes it standard mass production equipment for PM gears, oil-impregnated bearings, hardware structural parts and stainless steel powder components.

Working Principle

The continuous mesh belt sinter furnace consists of 3 core zones: Debinding Zone, High-Temp Sintering Zone, Slow Cooling Zone.

1.Debinding Zone: Low-temperature heating removes lubricant and paraffin binder inside green compacts, waste gas exhausted by ventilation system.

2.High-Temperature Sintering Zone: Fill reducing protective atmosphere, precise temperature control 850~1180℃, metal powder particles form metallurgical bonding for full densification.

3.Atmosphere Slow Cooling Zone: Workpieces cool down slowly under oxygen-free protective gas to prevent surface oxidation and discoloration, bright clean surface after sintering.

4.Automatic Conveying Cycle: Stainless steel mesh belt transports workpieces at constant speed, fully auto feeding, sintering and discharging for 24/7 mass production.

2.3-Zone Insulated Furnace Chamber: Full fiber lining thick insulation layer, low heat loss and uniform temperature field.

7.Water-Cooled Double Seal Doors: Double water seal structure blocks outside air, prevent oxygen ingress and workpiece oxidation.

A1: For iron-based & oil bearing parts: ammonia cracked nitrogen-hydrogen mixed gas is most cost-effective. For high anti-rust stainless steel parts: pure hydrogen atmosphere is recommended. Pure nitrogen only works for low-temperature pre-debinding process.
