Share:Most new heat treatment purchasers are confused about the concept of bright annealing and traditional annealing, and cannot figure out whether they need to invest in a professional bright annealing furnace. Bright annealing has gradually replaced pickling annealing in high-end metal processing industries for its environmental protection and high finished product quality. This article clearly explains the definition, working principle and process advantages of bright annealing furnaces.
Bright annealing is an advanced metal heat treatment process that heats and cools workpieces in a closed environment filled with inert or reducing protective gas. The whole process isolates oxygen to avoid surface oxidation, decarburization and blackening. After annealing, the workpiece maintains a smooth and bright metallic luster without acid cleaning, grinding or other post-processing procedures, which greatly simplifies the production flow.
The working process of the bright annealing furnace is divided into four stages: preheating, heating and holding, gas replacement, slow cooling. First, put qualified workpieces into the sealed furnace chamber and exhaust all internal air; then inject protective gas such as nitrogen and hydrogen; heat the workpiece to the preset temperature and keep warm to eliminate internal stress; finally, cool down slowly under the protection of gas until reaching room temperature. The whole process realizes one-time bright forming of metal parts.
Traditional open-type annealing adopts air heating, and workpieces are prone to oxidation and blackening, requiring additional pickling and polishing, which causes chemical pollution and increases labor costs. Compared with it, the bright annealing furnace features zero pollution, fewer processing steps, consistent surface brightness and higher workpiece yield. Although the one-time procurement cost is higher, it can save 20%-30% of comprehensive operating costs in the long run.
Bright annealing technology is widely used for stainless steel tubes, copper wires, brass connectors, spring steel, precision fasteners and electronic stamping parts. It is the standard supporting equipment for automotive parts, electronic hardware and daily hardware manufacturing industries.
