Share:Gears and shafts are core transmission components of mechanical equipment, widely used in automotive, engineering machinery, aerospace and industrial equipment fields. These parts bear long-term alternating load, friction and impact during operation, prone to surface wear, tooth surface peeling, fatigue fracture and failure. Nitriding furnaces have become the core supporting equipment for gear and shaft manufacturing, effectively solving the service defects of transmission parts through professional surface nitriding strengthening technology and improving component stability and service life.
Nitriding furnace processing significantly improves the wear resistance of gear tooth surfaces. Gear transmission relies on meshing friction between tooth surfaces, and traditional quenched and tempered gears have limited surface hardness, easy to produce abrasive wear and tooth surface deformation after long-term operation. After nitriding furnace treatment, a dense high-hardness nitride layer is formed on the gear tooth surface, with surface hardness up to HV900–1200, which can effectively resist meshing friction wear, avoid tooth surface scratch and material loss, and maintain long-term stable gear transmission accuracy.
It greatly enhances the fatigue resistance of gears and shafts. Shaft parts such as transmission shafts, crankshafts and gear shafts bear repeated torsion and alternating stress during operation, easy to produce fatigue cracks from the surface and expand to cause component fracture. The nitriding layer formed by nitriding furnace processing can eliminate workpiece surface residual stress, improve surface toughness and fatigue strength, inhibit the generation and expansion of fatigue cracks, and increase the fatigue service life of gears and shafts by 2–3 times.
Ultra-low deformation processing ensures the dimensional accuracy of transmission components. Gears and precision shafts have strict tolerance requirements, and traditional high-temperature quenching processing is easy to cause deformation and dimensional deviation, affecting transmission matching accuracy. Nitriding furnace completes strengthening treatment at low temperature below 550°C, with no high-temperature phase transformation and rapid cooling stress, and the workpiece deformation is controlled within 0.01mm. It can ensure the precise matching of gear meshing and shaft assembly, avoiding transmission noise and jamming caused by dimensional deviation.
Excellent corrosion resistance adapts to harsh working environments. Mechanical gears and shafts in engineering machinery, marine equipment and outdoor equipment are prone to rust and corrosion due to long-term exposure to humid and corrosive environments. The dense nitride layer formed by nitriding processing can isolate air, moisture and corrosive media, effectively preventing surface oxidation and corrosion, improving the environmental adaptability of transmission parts and reducing maintenance and replacement costs.
In industrial production, nitriding furnaces are widely used for processing various precision transmission parts: automotive gearbox gears, engine crankshafts, transmission shafts, engineering machinery reducer gears, industrial pump body shafts and precision instrument transmission components. Different from other heat treatment processes, nitriding strengthening does not damage the core toughness of gears and shafts, realizing the optimal performance combination of hard surface, wear resistance and tough core impact resistance, which is the most ideal heat treatment process for high-end transmission components.
