Daily & Periodic Maintenance Checklist for Box Tempering Furnace

Daily & Periodic Maintenance Checklist for Box Tempering Furnace

Share:

A box type tempering furnace is a high-frequency used thermal processing equipment, and daily maintenance is the key to extending its service life and maintaining stable tempering performance. Statistical data shows that more than 75% of early damage to industrial tempering furnaces is caused by neglected daily maintenance. We divide the maintenance work into daily, weekly, monthly and long-term idle maintenance to form a complete and executable maintenance checklist for enterprises.

1. Daily Maintenance Work (After Each Use)

After the furnace body cools down to room temperature, thoroughly clean oxide scale, metal debris and carbonized oil stains inside the furnace chamber; check whether the furnace door is closed tightly and whether there is residual heat leakage; inspect the surface of heating elements for burning and damage; confirm the normal display of the temperature control panel, and cut off the power supply after daily work.

2. Weekly Maintenance Work

Carry out a comprehensive safety inspection every week: Check the aging degree of the high-temperature sealing strip of the furnace door; calibrate the installation position of the thermocouple to ensure accurate temperature measurement; inspect all power lines and wiring terminals for looseness and aging; clean the dust inside the electric control box to prevent dust accumulation from causing short circuits; test the sensitivity of the furnace door travel protection switch.

3. Monthly Comprehensive Overhaul

Perform a full-range overhaul once a month: Fasten all loose wiring terminals of the electric control system; professionally calibrate the temperature control accuracy of the instrument to eliminate temperature deviation; detect the integrity of the refractory insulation layer inside the furnace; add high-temperature resistant lubricating oil to furnace door hinges and adjusting screws; comprehensively test heating elements to replace aging parts in advance.

4. Long-term Shutdown Maintenance

If the box type tempering furnace needs to be idle for more than 3 months, users need to carry out special storage maintenance: Clean the furnace chamber without any sundries; disconnect the total power supply; place desiccants inside the furnace to absorb moisture; lock the furnace door tightly and cover the equipment with a dust cover; store it in a dry and ventilated indoor environment, and recomplete segmented drying before restarting to use.

Conclusion

Scientific and regular maintenance can extend the service life of a box type tempering furnace by 3-5 years and effectively reduce after-sales maintenance costs. Contact us to get a printable PDF version of the maintenance checklist for free.
